Omni Hotels Offers Group Golf Activities

By M+E Staff

Omni Hotels & Resorts recently announced a series of new, customizable golf activities and competitions for group attendees. Meeting planners have the option to build traditional and non-traditional events for all levels of players, from novice to enthusiast, with the new program, “For the Love of the Game.” The new activities menu can be booked at the majority of Omni Golf Resorts.

Golf purists can delight in a Pre-round Warm-up Like a Pro, where participants join in guided stretching and ball striking sessions for a proper round of golf. Match Play allows attendees to be paired head-to-head for a traditional match play tournament. Competitive golfers can take on nine holes of sudden death elimination in the Competitive Horse Race. The Short Course Challenge involves a challenging par-3 course ideally constructed for a quick round of golf before other engagements. Enthusiasts can also participate in a Mix & Match Format of a two-team tournament, where the first six holes are a scramble, the second six holes are best ball and the last six are alternate shot play.

For team-building oriented golf outings, Omni Golf Resorts offer options for groups on a schedule so they can hit the course before a meeting, during a break or after a meeting. Closest to the Flag puts a twist on a traditional golf outing by allowing participants to hit or throw odd objects such as footballs, tennis balls and Frisbees, in addition to golf balls, toward the green to see who can land closest to the flag. The Putting Green Activities offers an experience for groups to choose from a selection of miniature golf activities such as “Night Putting” with glowing golf equipment, “Blind Putting,” where one participant blindly putts and his or her teammate serves as the guide or “Extreme Putt-Putt,” where they must putt around an obstacle course. Foot Golf replaces the golf ball with a soccer ball while maintaining traditional golf scoring. Late-night options are made available with Moonlight Golf, where the holes glow in the dark. Frisbee Golf is also available for timed-play, nine holes, or the full 18.

No experience is necessary for the next mix on the menu. Guests can enjoy a Group Fun Run with breakfast and a morning run on the back nine. The Marshmallow Long Drive held in the hotel’s ballroom, or other meeting space, puts participants skill of mind over muscle to the test in a driving contest with golf ball replaced by marshmallows. Golf Stretch is an ideal meeting breakout session where participants can enjoy a relaxing golf-specific stretch to alleviate stress or discomfort. Attendees can take a chance at Omni Golf Blackjack played just like the card game, except participants pitch balls from a tee box into a “deck” of mock cards in attempts to hit 21. Attendees can participate in a golf stretch followed by chipping a Velcro ball into a net with Chip Off the Old Block.
