backYARD at Waller Creek joins Austin’s Outdoor Venue Scene

backYARD at Waller Creek is Austin’s newest restaurant, bar and outdoor venue in downtown. The concept, which had a soft opening during SXSW 2017, is new to the Sheraton Austin Hotel at the Capitol. The backYARD offers American cuisine with a Texas twist and cocktails using house-infused spirits, and has a spacious outdoor space perfect for events.

Barry created his own brand focused on easy transport, assembly and versatility after being frustrated about not being able to find a booth suitable for his wedding photography work.

New National Food Experience Provides Food From 50 States

Flavored Nation, a new live experience that highlights the most iconic food from each of all 50 states, will be hosted at St. Louis' Dome at America's Center from Oct. 27-29. GateHouse Media, along with Richard Gore, will work together to produce this event for food-lovers across the nation. After conducting extensive research to identify each state's most iconic food, 12,000 attendees will be able to taste the 50 dishes all at one event.

ARRIVE Hotels & Restaurant's Begins Construction of Second Location in Austin

In the up-and-coming east Austin area in Texas, ARRIVE Hotels & Restaurants is building a new boutique hotel. Located on the corner of East 6th and Chicon St., this will be ARRIVE's second location. The new hotel will have 83 rooms and will open in the spring of 2019.

Museum, hotel partnership promotes Texas culture

San Antonio is one of Texas’ top meeting and convention destinations—and now there is another great option for planners. Hotel Contessa has partnered with The Briscoe Western Art Museum to create a Texan experience for groups that want to incorporate local flavor into their meetings. The Briscoe is one the newest museums in San Antonio, located directly on the Riverwalk, and focuses on the art, history and culture of the American West through engaging exhibitions and educational programs reflective of the region’s rich traditions and heritage.

Austin CVB and Professional Convention Management Association Supported Sammy’s House

The Austin Conventions and Visitor’s Bureau and the Professional Convention Management Association hosted an event to support Sammy’s House, a nonprofit organization that helps children with medical or developmental issues.

The event—Hospitality Helping Hands—sold 150 volunteer spots. During it, volunteers worked on projects like playground repair, yard maintenance, toy sorting, cleaning classrooms and more to improve the facilities of the daycare.
