The Texas Association of Convention and Visitors Bureaus hosted its 38th Annual Conference from Aug. 3 to 6, 2015, in The Woodlands. There were 276 industry professionals who attended the conference, which included 25 vendors. The TACVB will hold its next event, Midwinter Conference, in Beaumont on January 19 to 21.

The Renaissance Dallas at Plano Legacy West Hotel celebrated its grand opening in September. The hotel includes 15 floors, 288 rooms, 16 suites, 19 meeting rooms and 30,000 square feet of ballroom and event space. Located next door to the newly developed Toyota Motors North America headquarters and the Dallas Cowboys World Headquarters, the hotel features a provocative and diverse collection of art that underscores its inventive West of Zen design theme.

 

In May, Eatzi’s Market and Bakery hosted a preview party in celebration of its new (and first) Fort Worth location in University Park Village. Throughout the evening, guests enjoyed wine and signature bites from Eatzi’s while mingling and shopping the new store. CEO Adam Romo, along with the rest of Eatzi’s team, greeted guests—as did Eatzi’s instore opera singers. It was an evening of celebration for all those who have long-awaited the brand’s expansion to Fort Worth, including meeting planner who may now take advantage of Eatzi’s group catering options.

 

The Hyatt Regency Austin, located on the shores of Lady Bird Lake in downtown Austin, recently celebrated its 35th anniversary. The property opened its doors in 1982 and was the first downtown hotel located south of the river. The hotel continues to provide modern and upscale accommodations for travelers and underwent a recent $70 million renovation, says Michael Murphy, general manager of Hyatt Regency Austin.
