• Janice Bond named Director of Music and Social Programming for AUSTIN’S KIMPTON HOTEL VAN ZANDT AND GERALDINE’S

Hotel Van Zandt and Geraldine’s have announced a new creative force as the Director of Music and Social Programming. Janice Bond, a Texas native, was an active committee member of SoHo House, a member’s club that brings together a community of people in creative industries such as film, fashion, music, art, and technology. During her time there, she led many social events connecting female creatives, participated on panels and co-hosted member dinners.

Bond is dedicated to bringing all forms of art to the public and will be working with The City of Chicago for The Year of Public Art. In addition to this, she will be curating a bus tour in 2017 for this initiative, Bond is a curator for the 50 x 50 Neighborhood Arts Project, a citywide initiative to bring art into public spaces. In addition to this, Bond’s passion for supporting artists is further demonstrated through her creation of her own consulting company, Bond Creative Advisors, which she launched with a mission to be a strategist and consultant to artistic minds and institutions.

“Janice’s deep-rooted love for art and music makers her a fabulous fit for this position,” said Joe Pagone, general manager of Hotel Van Zandt. “We pride ourselves on supporting local artists at the property, and Janice has a true understanding of Austin’s artistic landscape and the importance of supporting musicians.”

In her new role, Bond will be responsible for curating the musical vibe, programming and special events for the hotel. In specific, she will be working for the unique spaces within the hotel, like Geraldine’s, the property’s fourth floor restaurant and a local staple in the Austin music scene.

“I’m thrilled to be joining the Hotel Van Zandt family in a city that prioritizes and invests in the cultivation of art and supports local musicians and other creatives,” said Bond. “As a native Texan, it’s very sweet to be returning home to my roots, where my love for all tings art and music began.”

Houston City Council approved the appointment of Brenda Bazan as the new president and CEO of the Houston First Corporation (HFC).

“It’s an honor to be selected by Mayor Turner and confirmed by the city council,” said Bazan.
