• New Hotel Anchors Mixed-use Development in Houston

The nation-wide trend of anchoring mixed-use developments with hotels is growing and evolving and this new upscale Houston hotel is no exception.

The upscale Hotel Alessandra in Downtown Houston features 223-guestrooms and more than 5,000 square feet of event space. The 20-story hotel, which opened October 1, 2017, anchors the three-block-long GreenStreet mixed-use development. The Hotel Alessandra is one of The Valencia Group’s newest properties and the flagship of its new luxury brand. 

The 570,000-square-foot GreenStreet development encompasses office and retail space as well as dining and entertainment venues. Midway of Houston is the developer of the mixed-use facility and partnered with The Valencia Group to bring the Hotel Alessandra project to fruition. In addition to GreenStreet, the hotel is within a mile of the George R. Brown Convention Center, Discovery Green, the Downtown Aquarium and The Hobby Center for the Performing Arts.

The Hotel Alessandra features more than 5,000 square feet of meeting and event space including the 3,300-square-foot Belle Ballroom with two walls of floor-to-ceiling windows and ample pre-function salon. The third-floor Belle Ballroom can accommodate a standing reception of up to 200 guests. Also on the third floor, the Jolie and Beau rooms can be combined for a capacity of 50 attendees. The Autre Executive Boardroom, complete with a roof-top terrace, is situated on the top floor of the hotel and can accommodate an intimate meeting of up to 10 guests. 

Additional amenities include the upscale Mediterranean Lucienne restaurant, the Bardot bar and lounge, Spa by Alessandra, valet parking, complimentary Wi-Fi, a fitness center and a fifth-floor swimming pool with seasonal poolside bar. The hotel is a 27-mile drive from the George Bush Intercontinental Airport, a short walk from the Main Street METRORail location, complimentary car service within the downtown area, and on-site bike sharing is available through BCycle.

The new Doug Pitcock ’49 Texas A&M Hotel and Conference Center made its official debut a few weeks ago with a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house, and the hotel and conference center welcomed its first official overnight guests and opened its dining outlets to all patrons on Wednesday, August 29.
