The Irving Convention and Visitors Bureau (ICVB) Received Three Additional Gold Adrian Awards from HSMAI

The ICVB’s awards were for compelling advertising, public relations and marketing campaigns. The organization has been working on attendance-building initiatives for consumer events held at the Irving Convention Center, a direct mail campaign targeting group meetings and events and key public relations placements on behalf of the convention center in Las Colinas.

The 20th Annual Grumpy Old Men Festival Comes to Wabasha

The city of Wabasha will be home to the 20th Annual Grumpy Old Men Festival on February 23. The packed day will celebrate Grumpy Old Men with many movie-themed activities from morning till night.

The morning will consist of an ice fishing tournament while the afternoon will be packed with activities. Guests can choose from minnow races at the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), a Cribbage tournament, Bingo, sponsored by The American Legion, or Slippery’s Annual Texas Hold’em Tournament. Hockey games, one youth and one old timer’s, will also be played.

Steven Hacker Wins 2012 JMIC Profile and Power Award

The Joint Meetings Industry Council (JMIC) recently named Steven Hacker as the winner of the 2012 JMIC Profile and Power Award. Hacker, who previously held the role of president of the International Associated of Exhibits and Events, was awarded for his years of work publicizing the value of the exhibition sector and overcoming obstacles to promote the growth and development of the exhibits and events industry.

The City of Amarillo Celebrates Series of Longterm Renewals

The city of Amarillo newly celebrated announcements of long-term renewals from three of its premiere events. The Working Ranch Cowboys Association (WRCA) publicized that the World Championship Ranch Rodeo will remain in the city through 2015. Additionally, the Amarillo Farm & Ranch Show announced a five-year extension with the Amarillo Civic Center and the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) stated that Amarillo will remain the host city of the Adequan Select World Show until 2015, with a possible two more years after that.
