The Sheraton Dallas Hotel, a Marriott International property, has announced the commencement of a multimillion dollar renovation of the downtown Dallas hotel and convention property.

The Sheraton’s location in the downtown Dallas Arts District has made it a favorite gathering place for businesses and venue for social gatherings.

Construction will include a full renovation of the lobby, porte-cochère and arrival entrance, restaurants and bar. New menu offerings will be developed as well. More than 1,000 (of 1,840 total) guest rooms, bathrooms and hallways will be redesigned to feature new décor and furnishings. The hotel’s 230,000-square-foot meeting and convention space will include new lighting, painting and carpeting.

The Hospitality Studio at DLR Group will be leading interior design for the hotel’s guestrooms, suites, and corridors. FlickMars, a Dallas hospitality design firm will be leading design of public spaces, conference and meeting spaces, and the sports bar. The John Hardy Group will oversee project management for the entire renovation.

Texas Live!, Arlington’s new $1 billion entertainment complex officially opened on August 9. The Texas Rangers, The Cordish Companies and the City of Arlington project, located between the Texas Rangers’ Globe Life Park and the Dallas Cowboys’ AT&T Stadium will also feature several new options for meetings and event planners, including 35,000-square-feet of meeting, event and convention space.

New partnership brings organized approach to small and midsize trade shows.

This August, the new Doug Pitcock ’49 Texas A&M Hotel and Conference Center will be open to the public holding a new membership in IACC. This credential, better known as the International Association of Conference Centers, is an elite acknowledgement of stellar service and hospitality. As the only international association representing small-to-medium-sized venues, this membership includes thought leaders of the meetings and events industry.
