BENCHMARK, a global hospitality company, is expanding into Texas with three new, distinctive properties—Doug Pitcock ’49 Texas A&M Hotel and Conference Center in College Station, Delta Hotels by Marriott Dallas Allen & Watters Creek Convention Center in Allen, and Hotel Contessa in San Antonio.

The Doug Pitcock ’49 Texas A&M Hotel and Conference Center, which opened on the campus of Texas A&M University in August 2018, features a rooftop deck with panoramic views of the campus and the iconic Kyle Field. The property includes 250 guestrooms and 11 suites and features 35,000 square feet of meeting and event space, including an 8,300-square foot ballroom and 22 flexible meeting rooms.

Delta Hotels by Marriott Dallas Allen & Watters Creek Convention Center, which opened in January 2019, is located in Allen just 30 miles from Dallas. It is also the first hotel in the Delta brand designed specifically for meetings. The hotel’s contemporary and refreshing design encompasses 300 guestrooms and suites and 90,000 square feet of meeting and convention space.

Hotel Contessa, located on San Antonio’s legendary Riverwalk, hosts its outdoor events on a patio and upstairs terrace overlooking the most scenic stretch of the San Antonio river. The hotel offers 10,000 square feet of meeting and event space including 11 meeting rooms, a ballroom, and outdoor patios with stunning views of the Riverwalk and the city. Hotel Contessa also has 265 unique luxury suites.

Available through the end of August, Texican Court plans to beat the summer heat with its first-ever poptail program.

The poptail, which combines premium spirits and popsicles, was introduced at Valencia Hotel Group properties back in 2016. Texican Court, the group’s boutique hotel, is thrilled to join the summer fun by adding the poptail program to its seasonal menu.

Aventri, a leader in events management software (EMS), recently released ‘The Top 100 Meeting and Event Venues in the United States’ for 2019. The company took the ten top-rated meeting and event cities in the United States and picked the top ten venues in each area, compiling a list of 100 highly-regarded spaces.

The guide identifies the two most valuable factors in attendee satisfaction as venue location and activities in the host city, followed by capacity, uniqueness and proximity to local attractions.

Since its $384.1 million river improvement project in 2013, San Antonio has revitalized 13 miles of the San Antonio River by reintroducing native vegetation to improve the area's natural ecosystem.
