Canopy by Hilton, in a joint development between Crockett Urban Ventures and Merritt Development Group, plans to develop Canopy by Hilton San Antonio River Walk. Scheduled to open in the fall of 2018, the hotel will be managed by White Lodging Services.

“We are excited to work with entrepreneurial and forward-thinking developers,” says Chris Anderson, senior vice president and chief revenue office, White Lodging. “This will be an architectural wonder and a real destination until itself.”

Canopy by Hilton San Antonio River Walk will boast more than 3,000 square feet of meeting space, 195 rooms and a restaurant with an outdoor terrace that overlooks the River Walk.

“We want this hotel to be part of the fabric of the community,” says Anderson. “We’re being meticulous in making sure everything from the menu to the décor is flawlessly integrated into San Antonio.”

The location was selected to fit into Canopy by Hilton’s collection of properties in exciting, culturally rich neighborhoods.

“Canopy is about helping guests get to know the vibrant neighborhoods where they’re staying,” says David Merritt, president, Merritt Development Group. “The location in San Antonio is in the heart of downtown San Antonio with numerous area restaurants, bars and entertainment venues.”

Located along the River Walk at the Northwest corner of North St. Mary’s and Commerce streets, the hotel will integrate the Civil War-era Alamo Fish Market building into its 22-story design.

“It was important for us to include the Alamo Fish Market building into the design of the hotel,” says Chris Hill of Crockett Urban Ventures. “Incorporating the building into the hotel is not only an integral element of the authenticity of the Canopy brand, but also maintains an important historic element to the corridor. I’m excited to breathe some additional life into the area with this project.”

After breaking ground in January, Canopy by Hilton looks forward to the opening of their newest addition.

“Canopy by Hilton redefines the lifestyle segment and brings guests closer to the neighborhoods in which they travel,” says Gary Steffen, global head, Canopy by Hilton. “The River Walk neighborhood in San Antonio perfectly aligns with the ethos of Canopy by Hilton. We are excited to partner with Crockett Urban Ventures and Merritt Development to bring Canopy to the city of San Antonio.”

In early June, the City Council of Tyler called a special meeting to name its Rose Complex's conference center. The center will be called the W.T. Brookshire Conference Center after the iconic grocery store founded and headquartered in Tyler.

"Brookshire's tradition of outstanding service was instilled 90 years ago when W.T. Brookshire made the decision to place the customer as his top priority," says Mayor Don Warren.

After the name was announced, attendees for the momentous occasion signed the complex girders to commemorate the occasion.

Keep your eye on the skyline of Austin. The sustainably focused hotel brand, 1 Hotels, is coming to a mixed-use hotel, residential and retail project currently under construction at the meeting of Waller Creek and Lady Bird Lake. The property will be the tallest tower in Texas and will overlook the historic Rainey Street district.

Located on the River Walk, the Hyatt Regency San Antonio Riverwalk has completed its $38 million renovation just in time for its 40thanniversary. The renovation broke ground in December 2021. The hotel’s 602 guestrooms and 28 suites were redesigned to reflect an upscale urban experience.
