J. Scott Walsh Celebrates Big Milestone

J. Scott Catering has an exciting celebration ahead—the full-service, Philadelphia-based caterer is turning 20 years old!

J. Scott Walsh, founder and president of the company, and a culinary arts graduate of Paul Smith’s College, started his catering career in his parent’s home. Then, in 1996, he opened a brick-and-mortar facility in the Malvern Shopping Center; in 2004, he moved the company to its current, 10,000-square foot location.

Meet the caterers bringing organic and farm-to-table cuisine to events

The term “professional forager” probably won’t be making its way into many career guides in the near future, but it is how Valerie Broussard makes her living. She’s a farming matchmaker of sorts, bringing together local farmers and food artisans with the catering companies and restaurants that serve organic and locally grown ingredients. “I help my clients increase their sourcing of local, sustainable and artisanal foods,” Broussard says.

Meet Dana Carroll, NACE

Dana Carroll, CPCE, CWC, may have gotten her start in the event industry by chance, but her involvement in National Association of Catering and Events (NACE) shows that hard work goes a long way. Currently the senior catering sales manager for Wolfgang Puck Catering, Carroll’s accolades include DFW NACE President (2010 2011), NACE National Caterer of the Year (2012) and NACE National Board Member Chapter Presidents Council Chair (2014–2015).

A Caviar-Centric Happy Hour

Who doesn’t love a good happy hour? And these early evening respites don’t get any happier than the one offered by Petrossian West Hollywood. During last week’s media happy hour mixer, the indulgent bites included caviar burger sliders, smoked trout tacos wrapped in jicama and topped with tequila-infused trout roe, potato tarts with crème fraiche and a dollop of white sturgeon caviar and caviar deviled eggs.
