Meet Melissa Carroll

Melissa Carroll was recently hired as head bartender at South Water Kitchen.

1. What are you looking forward to the most in your new role as head bartender?

backYARD at Waller Creek joins Austin’s Outdoor Venue Scene

backYARD at Waller Creek is Austin’s newest restaurant, bar and outdoor venue in downtown. The concept, which had a soft opening during SXSW 2017, is new to the Sheraton Austin Hotel at the Capitol. The backYARD offers American cuisine with a Texas twist and cocktails using house-infused spirits, and has a spacious outdoor space perfect for events.

Signature Drink - Do You Think I’m Tex-y?

INGREDIENTS

-1 oz. Tito’s Handmade Vodka

-1 oz. elderflower liqueur

-6 fresh raspberries

-.25 oz. simple syrup

-.25 oz. handcrafted sweet and sour

METHOD

1. Muddle berries, simple syrup and sweet amd sour together.

2. Add spirits and then fresh ice.

3. Shake vigorously.

4. Strain into martini glass and garnish with a mint leaf.

Signature Drink - St. Germain Cocktail

INGREDIENTS:

-1.5 oz. St. Germain liqueur
-2 oz. sparkling wine or champagne
-Club soda or sparkling water
-Lemon twist

DIRECTIONS:

1. Fill a Collins glass with ice and St. Germain liqueur.

2. Add in sparkling wine or champagne. 

3. Top off with club soda or other sparkling water as desired.

4. Garnish with a lemon twist or wedge and serve.

* This drink can be made for a group by multiplying the measurements.
