Destination Kohler Appoints Doug Stringer as Head Chef of the Award-Winning Immigrant Restaurant

Kohler Co. has announced the appointment of Doug Stringer as head chef of The Immigrant Restaurant, located at The American Club resort-hotel at Destination Kohler.

Stringer joined Kohler Co. in 2015 as sous chef of Riverbend, where he oversaw all facets of kitchen operations, purchasing, food cost management, staffing, menu design, and overall leadership. He has over seven years of fine dining and hospitality experience. In his new role, he will oversee the development and creation of culinary programs.

Convening Leaders Flocked to Austin

Earlier this month, The Professional Convention Management Association hosted their 2017 Convening Leaders Conference in Austin, Jan. 9–11.  

“We are thrilled to host convening leaders for the first time in Austin,” says Tom Noonan, president and CEO , Austin CVB. “Austin has become a premier destination for meeting, conventions and leisure business and we are confident that we will see return business from the PCMA attendees.”

The conference attracted about 4,500 attendees and is estimated to bring in around $11 million in economic return.

Visit Plano Appointed New SMERF and Government Sales Manager

Visit Plano has appointed Shane Sorenson as the new SMERF (social, military, education, religious, and fraternal) and government sales manager. Sorenson is replacing Kay Summerville, who has retired after nine years at Visit Plano.

Sorenson has experience working for the Wichita Falls CVB, and has recently earned the Texas Destination Marketer credential. He’s also a Certified Tourism Ambassador, member of TACVB, TTIA, and Event Service Professionals Association.
