• IMEX America Promotes Technology Innovation

This year at IMEX America, attendees will have the opportunity to discover the latest trends and innovations that will greatly influence the meeting and events industry.

According to an IMEX Group survey of almost 1,200 respondents, nearly 40 percent of meeting professionals believe these trends and innovations will come from technology.

Broken down further, 40 percent of hosted buyers, 34.5 percent of visitors and 37.5 percent of exhibitors noted that technology would bring the next big innovation, citing apps, virtual meetings and meeting room technology as innovation examples.

Technology startups will be able to introduce their products to meeting professionals in the #IMEXpitch competition on Oct. 18 at IMEX America. Each company will have five minutes to display their product, and the winner will receive a space on the Technology Pavilion at the next show (giving them great marketing exposure).

“IMEX has a long history of being at the forefront of showcasing event tech,” says Tara Thomas, co-founder of The Meeting Pool. “The competition is truly where the industry looks for the latest innovations changing the game for event professionals and is also an amazing opportunity for startups to attract significant attention and buzz around their products.”

Meeting professionals will also be able to attend technology sessions at the TECHknowledge Area, powered by The Meeting Pool. Topics will include Snapchat, Slack and OneNote—some of the hottest tools right now.

“Technology has long led the way in innovation, particularly in the meetings sector,” says Carina Bauer, CEO, IMEX Group. “This innovation often comes from start-ups entering the industry and we see many interesting ideas from new businesses through our #IMEXpitch competition and across the show floor.”

IMEX America 2016 takes place in Las Vegas on Oct. 18 – 20. 

Remote working has become mainstream with the continued presence of COVID-19. While many people have welcomed the new normal of working from home, others miss the separation of spaces, as many corporate offices have remained closed since March. Without the daily obligation to go into the office, professionals have the ability to travel more freely. Hotels across the country are creating “work from hotel” deals–a play on “work from home”–so people can explore new places while still fitting in their 9 to 5.  

 

Due to COVID-19, non-essential travel was, or has been, banned for months. Long anticipated trips and in-person gatherings were canceled and people have adjusted to the new normal: staying at home and meeting over Zoom. However, states have been slowly lifting restrictions, and non-essential travel will soon be happening across the country again. However, some may not be as comfortable with the thought of traveling as they were before the pandemic.  

 

Although several cities are opening up again, many offices are still enforcing work from home policies. As they did when Stay at Home first began, plenty of organizations are still offering webinars with insights on how to tackle the new normal. Gaining new knowledge is a great way to use extra time that might have been spent on a commute.
