Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau has selected Richard Staub as the senior vice president, convention sales. 

In his role, Staub will be in charge of leading the CVB’s convention sales and services team in hitting booking goals through the marketing of Philadelphia and the Pennsylvania Convention Center. He will start in September. 

Previously, he was the managing director and general manager of the Sheraton Philadelphia Downtown. Staub, has more than two decades of experience in the hospitality industry. He will be taking the place of Julie Coker Graham, who currently serves the position, as she prepares for the role of president/CEO of the CVB when Jack Ferguson retires. 

“We are absolutely thrilled that after a rigorous nationwide search, Rick will be joining our team in this very important role,” says Ferguson. “We worked closely with Rick in his previous positions at the Sheraton and Loews, and his ability to be a diplomatic consensus builder, successfully managing relationships with various stakeholders, in addition to his knowledge of Philadelphia’s hospitality landscape, were key factors in his hiring. Rick is an incredible asset to our team and our clients can be assured that they are in great hands.” A Pittsburgh native, Staub is on the board of the PHLCVB, the Pennsylvania Tourism and Lodging Association, and is a member of the Pennsylvania Convention Center Authority Hospitality Committee, the Mayoral Committee for Market East Economic Improvement, the Philadelphia Hospitality and Tourism Task Force led by Jim Kenney, former City Councilman At-Large and mayoral candidate, and the 2015 World Meeting of Families and Papal visit Welcome Committee.

After celebrating its third anniversary of providing low cost services from London Gatwick, Norwegian Air, along with Visit Austin and Austin Bergstrom International Airport, revealed Austin as a new U.S. route from London Gatwick Airport. Norwegian Air will begin providing the eight-hour flight to Austin beginning March 27, 2018, with one way tickets at £239 and premium tickets at £579. The flight will take off from Barbara Jordan Terminal at 4:20 p.m., landing in London at 7:20 a.m.
